Located in Alvin, Texas. 20 minutes south of Houston.
This feature tree of 1st National Oak Park is located on Disney Street. It is estimated to be possibly 200 years old. It long predates the town of Alvin. Actually two trees, an elm growing in the center of a giant oak, it is mentioned in Ripley's Believe It or Not and listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The trunk measures 16 feet around, while the branches extend to a circumference of some 300 feet and a height of 75 feet.
Just a point of interest.
To claim your find, email me with:
1. What color is the fence surrounding the tree?
2. What is wrapped all over the tree?
3. On what side of the tree is the dedication sign located? The side closet to the library or the side farthest away from the library?
Good luck and Have fun.
I hope you enjoy this one.
Check out the town when you are done. Lots of really really old stuff around. Chamber of Commerce is right around the corner.
