Catch a glimpse into The People of the Corn in the Maya Village of Yaxunah(Ya-shu-nah) Community Cultural Center (CCC), Museum, and Cenote (U Yookbal Tsono’ot ‘Lol-ha). Tour the museum at the CCC, 25 pesos, to enjoy the history and lore of the local Maya. Check out the wall mural displaying local flora and fauna, painted by a young woman of Yucatán.
Cool off afterwards in ‘Lol-ha Cenote across the street (25 pesos), entrance to the ancient Maya underworld.
Nearby, just outside the village, is the archaeological site of Yaxunah, occupied by the ancient Maya from approximately 200 BC to AD 1,500. Inquire at the Community Cultural Center for a tour and directions.
