Geocache Description:

Twixmas 2018

It's that time of year again Twixmas! This calls for another CacheWalker Bash!
Everyone is welcome to attend, cachers old and new; come along for a cracking optional pre-event group walk and an enjoyable Event, complete with all the geocaching chit-chat and festive antics you could desire - this is an Event you won't want to miss, so, if you're working, make sure THIS is the day you book off!
Jingle Jingle

This is a SPECIAL CacheWalker Twixmas/Twinew Bash, as it's the 10th held since the first in 2007. Those good at maths may notice that this should be the 12th but in 2009 & 2011 no seasonal Bash was held.

10:00 meet for a 10:15 depart for the optional CacheWalker group walk
As with all classic CacheWalker Events, there will be a group walk beforehand. To coincide with the Event, some new caches will be released (aren't we lucky?!) The walk is about 4 miles long; please bring a change of footwear to keep the venue clean, there will be the odd muddy patches. If you are taking your dogs on the walk, please keep them under control and they must be clean before going into the village hall.

12:30 to 15:00 - The Event, at Long Compton Village Hall
Once we return from the optional pre-event group walk, the big Event will begin in Long Compton Village Hall, situated within the picturesque Cotswold village of Long Compton, which nestles below the hills. Make sure you save those Christmas leftovers and bring them along (in whichever form you like,) ready to lunch on during the Event! In addition to this, there may even be some mince pies brought along (hint, hint). There is a well-stocked kitchen at the hall: plates, cups, cutlery, microwave, cooker, etc. and a fridge if anyone wants to leave something there before the walk. Clean dogs are allowed into the hall.

If you won't be joining us on the optional pre-event group walk, we have the hall booked from 10:00 and as long as we have a volunteer on the kettle, you're more than welcome to gather inside and have a warm cuppa as you wait for us to return - there may well be a new cache in the village for you to have a go at, too!
the village hall

Parking: There is a good car park at the village hall, so park well, to get all the cars in. Please DO NOT park on the grass at the village hall.

Make sure you scroll down to see what exciting festive antics we've planned for the day.....

Other stuff

Caches
As is traditional with CacheWalker Events, new caches will be released on the day. As well as a new series of caches for the optional pre-event walk (see above) there are already caches in the vicinity and we might be placing a new cache or two...

Santa's Raffle
In order to help fund costs for the Event, a raffle will be taking place. If you can bring along a wrapped gift, ideally Geocaching related (that you would want to receive!) that would be great. On arrival, please put your wrapped gift on Santa's Raffle table. THEN DON'T FORGET TO PURCHASE A RAFFLE TICKET.

Other activities
Awards - It's time to lower the chequered flag on this year's CacheWalker TB race and declare the winners, before issuing the prizes. With the TB Race web site gone, does anyone want to run next year's race?
FTF draw - all attendees will automatically be entered into a draw for FTF of the Event. As well as bragging rights, the winner will also go home with a little prize!
TB/GC Swapping and Spotting - As usual, there will be time for trackable swapping and spotting why not drop your TBs in the box for another cacher to pick up and move on?
Fancy dress is optional but it would be nice to have some attendees festively dressed, as perhaps some of the organizers will be?
Local Attraction While in the area, you might want to visit the famous Rollright Stones not far away at N51 58.548 W001 34.216, there is parking there for a few cars.

Disclaimer
All the usual blahdy, blah, blah which means you do everything at your own risk and we are responsible for absolutely nothing (including the weather). If you don't feel safe doing it, then don't do it. Simples!

**Remember this is an EARLY LISTING - please watch and check this page for any updates and announcements as we get closer to the Event!**
