This will be a gathering of geocachers who are astronomy fans who would enjoy a late night/early morning viewing of the annual Geminids meteor shower.
The Geminids meteor shower emerges from the constellation Gemini (hence the name). The meteors are generally very bright, and travel at a medium speed – perfect for viewing. If we're lucky we might be able to see up to 120 shooting stars an hour – that’s two per minute!
I'll be there just before 1 o'clock Saturday morning 15th December to set up a modest supper of space snacks. We'll finish at 2 o'clock Saturday 15th December. You're welcome to BYO food and drinks (and a chair). You can have your photo taken in one of our 'space helmets'! N.B. There are no toilet facilities at GZ.
You'll need to bring a GPS or similar device to find GZ. This should be a nice dark spot for meteor watching.
I look forward to seeing you at the event. Happy Geocaching!
