Geocache Description:

There has been some wonderful work done in this area with the installation of a new walking track complete with information boards along the way.

The Molonglo River Reserve (Canberra's newest reserve; 2018) now offers a 2.8km return walking trail through an area of protected Box-gum Woodland north of Holden Creek pond. Learn about Riverview Cottage, home of Isaac and Emily (Shumack) Blundell; ancient eucalypts; and some of the native species that call this area home, including the endangered pink-tailed worm-lizard and superb parrot. It looks like the track may eventually loop across the river too.

If the river is low (like it was at the time of cache placement) you can find a few places to cross while keeping your feet dry.

For more information you can find the Mononglo river reserve - Draft reserve management plan online.

The cache is at one of the new features along this track. A lovely walk and great views along the way.
