La commune correspond à une ligne de partage des eaux : la pluie qui ruisselle autour du château s’en va d’un côté vers le Rhône et la Méditerranée, de l’autre vers la Loire et l’Atlantique.Rochetaillée a constitué une voie de passage facile entre la Loire et le Rhône, le château y occupant une position de commandement remarquable, haut perché sur son arête blanchâtre.

Our Lady overlooks Rochetaillée and offers a panoramic view on the village and its castle as well as the bottom of the Valley and the site of climbing La Roche Corbiere.
The commune corresponds to one line of the watershed: the rain flowing around the Castle goes on one side towards the Rhone River and the Mediterranean, on the other to the Loire River and the Atlantic. . Rochetaillée was a path of easy passage between the Loire and the Rhone, the castle is in a position of remarkable command, high perch on a whitish edge.
