Geocache Description:

This park is named for Jennie Dean, a former slave who's large efforts helped found the Manassas Industrial School for Colored Youth. The Manassas Industrial School & Jennie Dean Memorial is just a short walk away from the GZ posted coordinates of this CITO.

Dean Park is the largest park in the city of Manassas. Over the last year or so I have started placing geocaches here, and I have noticed the trash and debris along the trail. Along the wood lines have bottles and card board strewn about. So after I updated Manassas Parks on our recent clean up of Mayfield Park, I asked if could host a small clean up here. I will be concentrating our efforts along the Winter's Branch Trail. Disabled cachers are invited as well. The trails are paved, and the sidewalks and parking lots can be easily policed easily by wheelchair.

CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out. It’s the geocacher’s approach to keeping our game board (i.e. the entire planet) in great shape. Geocachers gather together to pick up trash, remove invasive species, repair trails and more!

Trash Bags needed for the cleanup will be provided at the starting coords. Let it be known, you WILL get dirty, so dress appropriately, and wear good footwear. The fields could be soggy. The woodline has thorns and some poison ivy. Your garden gloves will come in handy as well.
