Solesmes est une commune française appartenant aux Hauts-De-France (59). Les habitants sont appelés Solesmois ou Seringueux car au carnaval de Solesmes il est coutume que les habitants prennent de grosses seringues : on raconte qu'au temps jadis, un seigneur, répondant à la demande des moines d’une abbaye, envoya ses gens d’armes pour ravir des terres et détourner la rivière du Béart. Refusant d’utiliser des armes meurtrières, Solesmois et Solesmoises remplirent leurs baquets d’eau claire et arrosèrent les intrus à l’aide de seringues en étain, d'où le nom de Seringueux.
La Chapelle Notre Dame Auxiliatrice de Solesmes est une vieille chapelle qui se situe au premier tournant de la rue Jules Guesdes. La coutume Solesmoise voulait qu'on fasse plusieurs fois le tour de la chapelle avec un jeune enfant pour lui apprendre à marcher.

The Chapel of Our Lady Help of Solesmes is an old chapel located at the first turn of the street Jules Guesdes. The custom Solesmoise wanted to go around the chapel several times with a young child to teach him how to walk.
