Geocache Description:

Whether you like to sit around a fire (weather permitting) and swap stories or go out on an adventurous hunt, this will be the event for you.

If you are one who loves to go caching after dark or likes challenges and adventure. We have tried to combine these into an adventurous Walk in the Dark. But for the ones going on the walk, team work is required to get through this course. Trail orientation begins at 7:30 p.m. The Walk in the Dark is your chance for a little friendly competition where teams will collect clues and earn points as fast as they can, all by the light of a half moon and your provided torch. This stumbling in the dark, fun caching activity will include a hike, caches, and loads of fun. Did we mention it would be in the dark . . . around Halloween?

The course should take from two to two and a half hours – some groups will be slower, some will be faster. A minimum of two and up to four-person teams are recommended. We can’t allow you to go out alone because it is too dangerous. Not that we have seen any zombies in this area, nah that would be ridiculous. If you have a team, let us know in your “Will Attend” and if not we will create teams.

The event will be from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Even if you don’t want to walk the trail, come out and enjoy the fun. We will be sitting around sharing caching stories as we wait for the survivors to finish the course. You are welcome to stay until the end or leave whenever you want.

The trail orientation will begin at 7:15 for the early teams with the first team's departure planned for 7:30. Subsequent teams should plan to leave at 20-minute intervals. The last team will leave no later than 11:30pm and we will hang out at the fire until the last team returns. This event will go on rain or shine.

Items your team will need:

*Digital camera with flash * A clipboard (might be useful) * Flashlight with fresh batteries * A handheld GPS or phone with caching app * Bug spray * a UV flashlight might come in handy.

An information sheet with the cache coordinates will be available at the event site.

The sharing of stories and awarding of prizes will follow on Saturday! Details will be posted later
