Geocache Description:

If you are a serious geocacher, you surely have heard of the "Original Can of Beans." Well, this is a "Whole Other Can of Beans." Specifically, a can of sea beans. As you make your way along the beach navigating to this cache, be sure to scan the "wrack line." That's the line of old dried out seaweed that marks the high-water mark at each tide. Among the wrack you will often find, bits of plastic, water bottles, cigarette lighters, bobbers, light sticks, flip flops, and "sea beans" – interesting seeds from the Gulf Coast, Florida, South America, and beyond that have traveled thousands of miles on ocean currents. Common types of sea beans include "Sea Hearts" from the Monkey Ladder vine in Costa Rica, "Black Walnuts" from trees growing along the Mississippi River, and "Hamburger Beans" from the South American Mucuna vine. Collecting sea beans is a bit like geocaching. Once you find a few, it's hard to stop! NOTE: This cache has a high terrain rating because San Jose island is only accessible by boat. The Jetty Boat from Fisherman's Wharf picks up and drops off to the island on the hour from 7am to noon, then at 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm. There is no pickup after 6pm so 4pm is the latest you can cross over. The Jetty Boat crossing fee is $18 per person per round-trip crossing.
