Qinbi (also called Chinbe) Village's stone houses, built in tiers against a hillside overlooking the sea, remind one of old European villages along the Mediterranean. Local legend is that Qinbi was once a pirate village.
The houses are constructed from rough hewn granite blocks, similar to traditional south Fujian architecture. Blocks that are placed horizontally are called gong style because the mortar between the stones resembles that Chinese character (工). Similarly, blocks placed at a 45° angle are called ren style because the mortar forms the shape of that Chinese character (人). Fanciful animals along the roof line are actually interesting water downspouts.
Qinbi overlooks a small beach where one can paddle a few meters out to Turtle Islet (龜島). Several other islets, some still used by the military, are also within view.
The cache is hidden in a hole in the low wall behind the stone city sign you see in the top photo. It's a small plastic box that can hold a small TB or swag. Please bring a pen, or borrow one from one of the many guesthouses and cafés in the village; the logsheet must be signed to qualify as a Find.
This stone sign is a popular photo spot, so please use stealth around muggles.
