Park at the large paved parking area near the soccer fields/ kids playgound and walk to the cache.
This cache is placed in tribute to Helsfyr, a cacher from Las Cruces. My son moved to Las Cruces to finish his college degree; he tried geocaching and never had much luck. He noted a pattern of his DNFs and they all were caches placed by Helsfyr. Finally he got the hang of seeking his caches and even sought them out because of their creativity! We would make trips just to find his caches, creating a Helsfyr list. This cache is one of his latest and we found it in May on a weekend when j was moving out of his apartment. He excited said that we much stop what we are doing to go and seek this one. We werent FTF, those are hard to acheive in Las Cruces. We recreated the cache with the help of the whole family, held on to the cache for 5-6 weeks looking for the best spot and asked permission of the Parks & Rec Department to place it.
Please rehide well- send a message if you need help- be stealthy- have fun AND if you are ever in Las Cruces make sure you look for Helsfyr caches. They are evil, devious, awesome, creative, hard to find, and so much fun!
