We learned a couple of weeks ago from MiTuDogs that an Australian Geocacher will be in the Lansing area from late July until mid-August. We thoutht it would be fun to hold an event cache for local cachers to meet and greet with him. He is bringing trackables and pathtags along with him
After checking several venues and dates, coordinating with his schedule and experiencing a change in our anticipated work schedue, this was the only date and time we could come up with that fit our schedule, his schedule and the availability of the facility.
It's also possible that a Geocacher from New Zealand will be in the area and may attend, but that's still being researched
The location is the gymnasium at Emanuel First Lutheran Church and School. For those who have attended the recent MiGO Winter Socials, it's the same facility. Restrooms and water fountains are available, it's planned that the facility will be air conditioned. If that falls through, we wll set up some fans. We have the room reserved from 6:30 until 8 pm.
While it would be helpful to know in advance roughly how many will be coming so we can set up some chairs and maybe a couple of tables for trackables, etc feel free to drop in if you're in the area but haven't logged as "will attend".
This is simply a meet and greet - there will be no food or drink provded, but feel free to bring some finger food, water or pop if you'd like to do so. This is our first time hosting an event cache, we don't want to make it too complicated.
Unfortunately, only service dogs or service dogs in training are allowed in the facility due to some poor experiences in the past.
