The geocache
A ‘fat’ camouflage bison.
The Chapel
This small Evangelical Chapel does not appear to have a website nor does it widely advertise its services. To paraphrase a well-known TV show, it is a ‘local Chapel for local people’. You will have driven past the associated graveyard on the main lane across from the Village Green.
Access
Parking is accessible close to the geocache. The Chapel itself is located on the fork of two dead-end lanes. Be aware that residents and farm vehicles will require access so park accordingly.
The Settlement
The village of Ballingham is a tiny village nestling in a curve of the River Wye between Hereford and Ross on Wye. In February 1834 Ballingham had the dubious distinction of claiming a rabid dog – the dog, belonging to William Greenaway, bit his wife and two children then died in three days exhibiting every sign of rabies. It was reported that ” The sufferers have prudently resorted to the excision of the parts.” Ouch!
