The Oldest Miniature Railway located on the grounds of a Public House, The Fancott Miniature Railway (FMR) is a 7¼ inch miniature railway located in the gardens of a Public House near Toddington, Bedfordshire. There has been a railways on the grounds of the pub for over 30 years in one form or another. The Original 10 1⁄4 inch Fancott Light Railway was opened in 1975 and was operated by Mr E Harper. It then closed in 1986. In 1996, a new railway was opened by Alexander James Wallman, the son of the pubs owner, A 7 1⁄4 inch railway was laid and operated by a Mr R Bennet and the resident locomotive at this time was an 040 Romulus Ffreddy (Which left in 2001). The railway was taken over in 2000 by Mr R Stanbridge, who ran it with his son Matthew. The railway was lifted on 2001 for a new line to be laid. Since then the railway has continued to operate, despite a fire in 2015. Future plans include tbe reintroduction of steam in the near future, to supplement the current three locos. The railway currently operates seasonally. It is usually open Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays 12-5.
