Geocache Description:

CONGRATULATIONS TO GRAY BAT AND LAST CHANCE FOR FTF!

Cache is NOT at the published coordinates. Don’t go there; you’ll only get wet.

I’m thinking of two universities.

Both universities are in the U.S. South. No question about that. They have similar enrollments, over 24,000 undergraduates and graduates. Both have NCAA Division 1 football programs, and very respectable programs too. However, they’re in different conferences, and as a result they rarely play against each other. In fact, they’ve only played against each other twice, and the last time they played against each other was 85 years ago (as of the 2018 season). They haven’t even played in bowl or postseason games against each other. There was an attempt to have them play each other a very few years ago, but it was quashed because one of the universities didn’t have room in its extra-conference schedule.

When you figure out which two universities I’m thinking of, look up the locations of their respective football stadiums on Wikipedia. Figure out the halfway point between the two locations (do this the simple way; take the arithmetic mean of the latitudes and the arithmetic mean of the longitudes). Then (important!) add .179 minutes to the resulting latitude and subtract .168 minutes from the resulting longitude. You’ll have the position of the physical cache.

One final hint. The names of the two universities are exactly the same length in letters, and not very long. Not only that, but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th letters of one name are the same as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th letters of the other name.

You’re looking for a decent-sized ammo can tucked away in a hole. Note the terrain rating and attributes, but keep in mind I’m a 62-year-old lethargic fat man. Good luck!
