Cette basilique construite au XIe siècle est un ancien prieuré bénédictin. Elle aurait été construite sur une basilique romaine datant du IIe siècle et une église du VIIe siècle.
Elle est classée aux monuments historiques depuis 1875.
Il y avait deux clochers, détruits en 1794 et un seul a été reconstruit. A l’intérieur, on trouve des fresques assez abimées actuellement.
Elle n’est plus en activité mais est maintenant un espace muséographique ouvert en juillet et août de 10 à 12h et de 14h30 à 18h sauf dimanche, tout le reste de l’année les jeudis matin en visite guidée (se renseigner à l’office du tourisme).
Attention, la cache n’est pas sur le bâtiment mais dans son environnement proche.

This basilica was built in the 11th century : it is a former benedictine priory. It is said to have been built over the remains of a romanesque basilica dating back to the 2nd century and a 7th century church.
It has been listed historical monument.
There used to be two be two bell towers, which were destroyed in 1794 ; only one was rebuilt. Inside, there are frescos which are in a relatively bad state for the moment.
It has not been in use for some time but has become a museum open in July and August from 10 to 12 and 14.30 to 18, except Sundays. The rest of the year, it can be visited with a guided tour on thrusday mornings (check with the Tourist office)
Beware : the cache is not on the basilica itself but quite near it.
