🇺🇸 Radioactive Grabber ⚒️
There were few attempts to decontaminate the town of Pripyat after the accident. Now the background level is higher then normal there but it is little less then the level on board of a passenger aircraft during a transatlantic flight. And only a few places in the town are highly radioactive. While the access to the hospital and the Jupiter plant basements is hampered, one "hot" object is still easy to see. It is the grabber from a digger used in the clean-up operation. This steel claw is stored in the backyard of Pripyat. A Geiger counter goes crazy near it showing high levels of beta and gamma radiation. The grabber reminds us what an invisible and guileful enemy is ionizing radiation.
🇺🇦 Радіоактивний ківш ⚒️
Після аварії було декілька спроб знезаразити місто Прип'ять. Наразі, радіоактивний фон у місті трохи вище за норму, але є меншим, ніж на борту пасажирського літака під час трансатлантичного перельоту. Лише декілька місць у місті являються надзвичайно радіоактивними. Хоча доступ до лікарні та в підвал заводу «Юпітер» заблоковано, є ще одне таке місце, до якого легко дістатись. Це ківш від екскаватора, який використовувався для очищення території. Сьогодні цей сталевий велетень зберігається на задньому дворі Прип'яті. Лічильник Гейгера божеволіє біля нього, а показники бета- та гамма-випромінень просто «зашкалюють». Цей ківш нагадує нам про невидимого та смертельного ворога – іонізуюче випромінювання.
