🇺🇸 Football Stadium 🏟️
The Pripyat football stadium is also known as the Avanhard stadium which has frozen in the middle of the abandoned town. It was absolutely new and this object wasn’t open officially in 1986. Just like the famous Ferris Wheel, it was waiting for its Big Day which was supposed to happen right on the May Day - 1st May 1986. The opening ceremony was dedicated to the Labor Day celebration, and had to host even high ranking official like Viktor Bryuhanov, director of ChNPP. But the accident happened 5 days before the planned ceremony. Football (soccer) was very popular in the USSR and there were 5 soccer teams in the town, with FC Stroitel Pripyat being most successful and most famous one. The Avanhard stadium was to become the second stadium in the town (the first one, mush smaller, was located at the entry to the city), as a part of well-developed sport infrastructure of the town with its 5 swimming pools and few gyms. By statistics, every 3rd (!) resident of Pripyat was doing some sports, so the officials were paying a lot of attention to construction of different sports facilities. Now the Avanhard stadium is covered by trees and only a grandstand and tracks give us a possibility to recognize the former central stadium of Pripyat.
🇺🇦 Футбольний стадіон 🏟️
Футбольний стадіон "Прип'ять", також відомий як стадіон "Авангард", закляк посеред закинутого міста. Це був абсолютно новий об’єкт, який не встигли офіційно відкрити у 1986 році. Так само як і відоме «Чортове» колесо, відкриття якого було заплановано на 1 травня 1986 року. Церемонія відкриття була присвячена святкуванню Дня Праці, якому повинні були приймати участь високопосадовці, як Віктор Брюханов, директор ЧАЕС. Але за 5 днів до запланованого свята сталася трагедія. Футбол був дуже популярним у СРСР, а у місті налічувалось 5 футбольних команд. 
Найвідомішою та найуспішнішою була команда «Будівельник». Стадіон «Авангард» мав стати другим стадіоном у місті (перший, набагато менший, знаходився при в’їзді у місто), як частина розвиненої спортивної інфраструктури міста, разом з 5 басейнами та кількома спортзалами. За статистикою, кожен третій (!) мешканець м. Прип'ять займався спортом, тому чиновники приділяли багато уваги будівництву спортивних споруд. Тепер стадіон "Авангард" заріс деревами і лише трибуни та треки дозволяють впізнати у ньому колишній центральний стадіон м. Прип'ять.
