Geocache Description:

Cache Mob -

We will gather for an half-day flotilla on the Potomac River around Van Deventer Island from Algonquin Park

Every cacher must arrange their own method of transportation for this voyage. Kayak, sail, canoe, motor, fly —it is completely up to you — but know the group gathers at 9:30 a.m. at the posted coordinated. There are multiple points from which to launch. Which to use to join the Cache Mob is left up to you as well. Some might be looking for short voyages; others might be enjoying a longer one. Waypoints have been provided for the two launches probably most logical though. I plan to arrive around 8am and put in by 8:30am to arrange to get to the event on time,

Event begins at 9:30am

A Cache Mob happens when a group of Geocachers get together - you never know what will happen next.

The Cache Mob Flotilla schedule will be:

8:30am - Begin flotilla up the Potomac River
9:30am - Meet at the posted coordinates for the start of the event.

Floatilla will last for about 4 hours - from 8:30 am to around 12:30 pm - we will circle the Van Deventer Island.

Bring your kayak or canoe along to join the floatilla.

Cache Mobs are gatherings where we enjoy the morning touring the park while chatting with your fellow geocachers.  We look forward to seeing all of our geocaching friends and meeting those of you whom we've not had the pleasure of meeting yet out on the trails!

Do keep a watch on this page. Updates on river conditions, etc. will be posted as information becomes available. For the event, do bring your own drink. Anyone who wants to contribute any snacks - those will be appreciated as well.

There will be treasure to seek, snacks to eat, friendly crew to socialize with and, of course, plenty of fun hopefully to be had. :)

Of course, do keep in mind that this is an island event and what you bring needs to be transportable. Current information on Potomac River conditions can be tracked below:
