Stockholm är en stad som ständigt växer. Här kan du se infrastruktur från slutet av 1800-talet men framförallt flera nutida tecken på hur staden växer.
Stockholm stad köpte mark och anlade Värtahamnen 1879-1886. Anledningen var att det behövdes möjlighet att ta in kol och annat skrymmande gods, för att lösa vidare transporter på land anlades också Värtabanan som invigdes 1882. Du kan se den gamla stationsbyggnaden för Värtans station åt söder.
Stockholm stad jobbar sedan många år med stora planer för att förändra hela området och skapa den nya stadsdelen Norra Djurgårdsstaden. De senaste åren har ett stort projekt genomförts för att flytta hamnen. Stockholms hamn har flyttat på hamnverksamheten och byggt 85 000 nya kvadratmeter i vattnet åt öster med en helt ny terminalbyggnad som invigdes i oktober 2016.
På den yta som hamnen lämnat planeras för det nya området Valparaiso med en kombination av kontor och handel. Tanken är att det nya området ska bli ett nav i den nya stadsdelen. Byggherre för det nya området är NCC och de planerar för byggstart under 2020 med första inflyttning 2022.

Stockholm is growing, then and now # 6
Stockholm is a city that is constantly growing. Here you can see the infrastructure from the late 1800s but, above all, more contemporary signs of how the city grows.
Stockholm city bought land and landed Värtahamnen in 1879-1886. The reason was that there was a possibility of collecting coal and other bulky goods, to solve further transport on land, the Värtabanan was opened, which was opened in 1882. You can see the old station building for Värtans station to the south.
Stockholm city has been working for many years with great plans to change the whole area and create a new district of the city called “Norra Djurgårdsstaden”. In recent years a large project has been carried out to move the port. “Stockholms hamn” has moved the port facility and built 85,000 new square meters in the water to the east with a completely new terminal building, which was opened in October 2016.
On the now empty ground there is plans for the new block named Valparaiso with a combination of offices and commerce. The idea is that the new area will become a hub in the new district. Builders for the new area are NCC and they are planning for construction in 2020 with the first occupation in 2022.
