CITO Seven Fields Local Nature Reserve
Saturday 21st April
10am to 11:30am
A litter-pick event for Cache In Trash Out week - to preserve the natural beauty of cache-friendly spaces and earn a virtual souvenir.
Free parking available at the given coordinates (but no toilets). If enough of us pick litter determinedly for just over an hour we will make a substantial impact to this beautiful local nature reserve. At 11:15am we will gather for a group photo and maybe some cake! The Parish Council amenities team will be along to recover their equipment and all the litter we have collected at around 11:30am.
Please bring your own gloves. The parish council is providing refuse bags and a number of bag hoops and litter sticks. If you have your own litter picker, please bring it along as these events can be very popular during CITO souvenir weeks.
Within the Parish of Haydon Wick, Seven Fields is rich in wildlife and has some of the best wildflower meadows in Wiltshire, with ancient hedgerows, stream, a magnificent Wild Service Tree and Penhill Copse (ancient woodland). It received a Local Nature Reserve Designation in 1995. Each year, the Borough makes provision for the taking of the hay to maintain and preserve the wildflower meadows. The Reserve is open to all at all times, and is not far from many bus routes. For more information about the fields, visit the Parish Council website at: www.haydonwick.gov.uk/our-community/seven-fields-conservation-group/seven-fields-description-field/
Health and Safety
- Rubbish collection can be dangerous, that's why we need adventurous people like you to assist. Please be extremely careful of anything sharp, glass, cans, knives, etc. Not saying you will come across these, but if you do, please be careful.
- Gloves are recommended, ideally the strong gardening ones.
- Children are welcome and are the responsibility of the parent for the duration of the event. Dogs are very welcome but please keep them under control.
- Heavy items. Please do not lift anything beyond your ability. If you find anything very large or heavy, please note the co-ordinates and these will be passed on to the Parish Council for the amenities team to deal with.
