Le Château de Vitray
Construit au XVIème siècle, il fut agrandi un siècle plus tard et restauré au début du XXème.
Il appartint au marquis de Lusignan et à son cousin le marquis de La Fayette.
Jadis partageant la même paroisse avec La Chapelle Saint Hippolyte, Vitray devint une commune à part entière lors de la Révolution Française. Le village possédait son église et son école et comptait 180 habitants en 1793.
Le 18 avril 1827 Vitray est à nouveau rattachée à la Chapelle-Hippolyte sous le nom de Saint-Hippolyte. Son école située au Grand Village a fonctionné jusqu’en juillet 1973.
