Geocache Description:

I invite you for a small hike of less than 2km, during which you can visit two old springs with interesting, historical names and stories. The first spring was named after Anna Losonczy who was the love of an early Hungarian poet, Bálint Balassi. Her family were major landowners in the area and the poet visited and courted her on and off for years. She inspired his best poetry and he became the first Hungarian poet in the modern sense of the word. He produced cycles of poetry, like his most famous Julia poems, inspired by Anna. Unfortunately, Anna did not reciprocate Balassi's love and married other people more than once.

The second spring, which is somewhat neglected, but is due for a complete renovation by the Novohrad/Nograd Geoopark soon, is named after Hungary's greatest poet of the XIXth century, Sándor Petőfi. In his youth he was a great hiker and it is acknowledged that he liked this area. He has been documented as having walked between Somoskő and Salgó Castle and in all probability his route passed by our second spring.

At the first spring the cache is in a very small container at the foot of a tree, under stones.

At the second spring the cache is up in a tree 1.8m high appr. 25 metres from the spring.
