Geocache Description:

...or Mount Quimper Pre-Hike Coffee II, Mount Quimper 2: Judgment Day, Quimper: First Blood Part II, Q2: Cachers United, The Quimper Strikes Back...

Whatever you want to call it, it's a sequel to WestCoastNavigator's February Mount Quimper hike for those who couldn't make the first or just want to relive that experience and/or are a glutton for punishment.

Date: Sunday April 29, 2018

Part 1: 9 am to 9:30 am
We'll meet up at one of the local morning beverage and fried confectionery dispensaries named after Mr. Miles Gilbert "Tim" Horton. Drop by to stock up on caffeine and/or sugar before heading off on the hike, or just come to socialize and motivate/heckle the hikers before heading back home to relax on the couch.

Part 2: 10 am to ? (optional)
After this event, those who want to participate in the hike will proceed to the parking lot at the end of Harbourview Road and meet at the gate at N48 23.895 W123 39.900. If anyone needs a ride to and from the trailhead, I'm sure we'll be able to accommodate. Anyone who wants to skip Part 1 (or just can't make it) can meet us at the trailhead at 10am. If you're a few minutes late, you can probably catch up to the group as we head northeast toward GC19KKG Sooke Basin View and GC3GX6J Southpark Pool. The plan is to follow a route similar to the one taken by the previous group, up the south side of Mount Quimper and down the northwest side (see the map below). The hike will probably be about 10-11 km, the last 3.5 km of which will be pretty easy walking along the road back to the parking lot. Depending on the exact route we take (which may deviate somewhat from the previous route if we feel like it), we'll hopefully rack up roughly 18 finds for those who haven't found any of them yet. Fingers crossed that we have good weather. If it isn't all that nice, we may take a shorter route depending on the mood of the group.

What to bring:
Keep in mind that some of the terrain on the hike will be fairly rugged (it's MOUNT Quimper!). Make sure you wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Bring a lunch, enough water, and any additional fuel you might need. We'll make sure we have a first aid kit and bear spray, but feel free to bring anything else you might need.

Dogs:
Dogs are allowed in Sea to Sea Regional Park, but need to be kept under control and cleaned up after. If there are any indications that wildlife is in our area, you'll need to leash up your dog.
