Join geocachers, friends and families as we help clean up the Saskatoon's Diefenbaker Park (and collect your spring CITO souvenir).
Date: Sunday, April 22, 2018 (Earth Day)
Time: 1:30-3:30 PM
Supplied: Garbage bags, water, nitrile gloves (and refreshments at the end)
We will meet at 1:30pm at the parking lot / picnic table at the posted co-ordinates to sign the event log, grab our garbage bags, and fan out from there. During the event one person will remain near the starting point to meet and greet any latecomers who would like to help out. A first aid kit will be available here in case of any injuries. Also, filled garbage bags can be dropped off near the starting point to be exchanged for more new garbage bags. At then end of the event, we will gather at the starting point for garbage drop-off, socializing and pictures.
This is an all-weather event, so check the weather forecast and please dress accordingly. Also, we suggest that you bring whatever trash pickup aids you like such as work gloves, pokey sticks, and grabbers. There are seasonally-available washrooms at the park entrance, but these will likely be closed until later in the year after last thaw.
Diefenbaker Park is a fairly large area that includes several parking areas and picnic areas, a frisbee-golf course, a big hill, various kinds of terrain, forest glades, a complex part of the Meewasin Valley Trail system, a riverbank, and several geocaches. If you have a favourite CITO style, you should find it at Diefenbaker Park.
