Geocache Description:

Come along to meet your fellow geocachers in a relaxed informal venue set in a beautiful country park by one of the iconic landmarks of Sussex.

There will be quite a number of geocachers milling around after the morning's work of helping clear litter from Seven Sisters Country Park. However, we hope to see many more of you at this event where you can learn more about the conservation work of CITOs, the South Downs Geotour, Friends of Cuckmere, and the South Downs National Park Rangers. The Geotour is being expanded and you can find out more about it from the South Downs Education Officer who will be present. You can even start the Geotour with a short walk to the Easternmost cache in the series while you're in the area!

The event will be held in the

Pump Barn

Seven Sisters Country Park

Exceat

between 12:30 and 14:00

Tea and coffee will be available and possibly cakes, but you are also welcome to bring your own picnic.

When Martletsman first decided to arrange a CITO here in 2008, there had never been such an event in the South East of England, let alone Sussex.

Now, Cache In Trash Out events are held frequently in Sussex and have expanded from litter picking to include Balsam Bashing, digging new ponds, clearing saplings from heathland and much more!

Today marks the Eleventh Annual CITO held in the country park. These are set to coincide with Geocaching HQs "CITO Week", when attending a CITO earns you a souvenir on your profile.

Much more than that though, we contribute to making the landscape a nicer place to roam.

Present at the event will be:

 - Geocachers! Come and meet like-minded people who chase little boxes all over the place . It's an opportunity for a nice chat or to get tips and hints on those elusive ones, mind-bending puzzles or getting into tree climbing... Whatever you want to know, it's likely someone else will have tried it too.

 - Friends of the Cuckmere - these are the people who are here all year round to keep the country park enjoyable for visitors (and it gets a LOT of visitors). Find out what they do, when they meet and how you could help.

 - South Downs National Park Rangers - the National Park is huge and these guys help keep it a special place. Find out what they do and how geocachers can help.

This event is also part of the SDNP Geotour - 30 geocaches across the whole of the South Downs and a great way to discover some of the "hidden gems" in this rich landscape. You can pick up your passport here and join the challenge. Collect points by visiting geocaches, attending special events, travelling sustainably, eating and staying locally. Enough will earn you a souvenir geocoin.

The barn is situated behind the Visitors Centre at Seven Sisters Country Park. There is a car park (charges apply) and there is a bus stop for the centre served by the Brighton-Eastbourne-Brighton service 12 and 12A.
