No trip to Yorkshire would be complete without visiting our Crown Jewel and this event will take you right to the heart of our county town.
The event is a flash mob that will happen between 10:00 and 10:30 in Parliament Square, York.
Throughout the history of the UK, York has been an important location, politically, religiously and as part of the monarchy.
The flash element of the event will see us stirring up the noise and commotion of the wars of the roses by clanging tins together as loudly as we can. All you need is a used and cleaned tin can and a coin or bolt and you’re ready to go! (This is optional, if folk don't want to make any noise, they need not. There will be noise made though)
We thoroughly recommend parking and using the bus to come in to the city, York has many Park & Ride services which are located at the parking waypoints. Once arrived, please do not make your way to the event coordinates directly, as that will spoil the surprise. As the clock strikes ten, a whistle will be blown and that is when we would like you all to converge on the coordinates, making as big a noise as you can.
There will be a log to sign, please sign if you are able as a reminder of a fun event and at half past ten, disappear without trace, as if we were never there! and no, you don't have to bang your tin for the full half hour)
Once the event has finished, you can enjoy all that York has to offer, including the Roman walls, Minster and shopping experiences, or maybe continue your journey on to the coast. I believe there are one or two caches to find!
