Australia Day is a national holiday celebrated on January 26 and has been celebrated annually since 1808. Further information can be found at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_Day .
In 1851, when my grandmother's family emigrated from Germany, she had an uncle who left for Australia shortly after his arrival in Michigan and was never heard from again. No doubt, he was fascinated by the tales of the sailors he heard while crossing the Atlantic, and it was his dream to go to Australia. In the mid 19th century, a lot of things could have happened, so where he did end up remains a family mystery.
For this event, if you have anything from Australia, please feel free to bring along and show to everyone.
I talked with the manager and he will have an area reserved for us towards the front to the restaurant. This place can get crowded at lunchtime, so please feel free to order to go, but be sure to sign the log sheet.
Although their menu includes falafel, shawarmas (various), hummus, fatoosh salads, and even a "schnitzel plate".
Any questions? Please contact the CO (GCHam) by the messaging feature.
Hope you can attend. Plan is have some TB's there as well, as well as the usual good times enjoyed at these events.
