It's time for another "Where in the World is Signal" souvenir!
Australia Day is celebrated each year on the anniversary of the first fleet from Britain landing in Sydney Cove. In 2018, Australia Day will be on Friday, January 26, creating a long weekend. Here in New York City, you can attend an event and earn a souvenir while celebrating with your fellow geocachers.
The event will take place from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM at the posted coordinates, which will bring you to the plaza area near the Astor Place subway station. The plaza is located between 4th Avenue, East 8th Street and Lafayette Street. It is also conveniently located across the street from an Australian-style coffee shop for anyone who wants to get something to help warm up on what should be a chilly day, even though it is summer in Australia!
