Geocache Description:

SIGNAL COMES TO SYDNEY

Australia Day for many Australians is an opportunity to have an Aussie BBQ with friends and family. You can take part in the celebrations this year by attending any event from Friday 26th January through Sunday 28th January 2018 and earn the Australia Day 2018 souvenir. For those of us who can't make it to an event on 26th January, here's a belated one where you can still get the badge.

The location for this event is Gough Whitlam Park, which is along the south bank of the Cooks River foreshore on Bayview Avenue, Earlwood. Access can be reached by public transport, bicycle or car. It is about a 10 minute walk from Tempe Train Station. The cycleway runs along the south bank of the Cooks River between Illawarra Road Bridge and Bayview Avenue Bridge. There is free parking onsite for around 40 cars, just off Bayview Avenue. And of course, there are several caches hidden nearby if you want some extra smilies!

Details at a Glance:

Location:  Gough Whitlam Park, Earlwood

Date:  Sunday 28th January, 2018

Times:  10:00am - 11:30am

Group Photo:  11:00am

Best Access:  Bayview Avenue

The event will be an informal meet and greet, BYO food and drinks but I will provide a few Aussie treats for you - damper and lamingtons! I will attempt to grab a picnic table if I get there early enough. Whichever way you get there, head towards the canteen area once you arrive.

There is a cafe in the park if you wish to buy a coffee or a snack. There are a number of picnic tables at GZ and free electric BBQ's if you wish to make a day of it at the conclusion of the event. There is a great playground to keep the geokiddies amused (with one of the best flying foxes you'll see), large open space, paths and tracks to explore the wetlands along the Cook's River and toilet facilities nearby. And you can bring the geodogs for a stroll, as long as you keep them on leash.

You will get to catch up with some geobuddies and make new friends while discussing all-things Geocaching. Bring along your TBs and coins to discover and swap. Who knows, you may even get some answers or hints to help solve those annoying puzzles that have been bugging you for sometime. There will be a FTF raffle with an Aussie prize for the winner!

Please post your "Will Attend" log. I hope you can make it to celebrate AUSTRALIA DAY 2018 and help make this an enjoyable gathering.

See ya later,

Brewmaker
