Our hero of indeterminate birthdate (1962 or 63) made their name in locating the Jules Rimet Trophy.
On Sunday the 20th March 1966, some thieves stole the Trophy from Methodist Hall in Westminster, ignoring £3million in rare stamps.
A ransom demand for £15,000 was left at Stamford Bridge and a meet was setup by the police. They arrested Edward Betchley who said he was only the middle man, the man they wanted was known as “The Pole”. Betchley was convicted and got a two year stay at Her Majesties pleasure.
Our hero steps in seven days after the theft and finds the Trophy wrapped in newspaper at the bottom of a garden in Beulah Hill. As a reward, £5,000, allowed to lick the bowl and got a silver medal.
Later in life, our hero became a TV and film star alongside Eric Sykes and June Whitfield.
