Geocache Description:

Nocturnal Reflections, A NIGHT-ONLY cache...

Until ownership is officially transferred, Mimi & Pa will be the caretaker of this cache. Email Mimi & Pa on all matters involving this cache. We would like to thank MTBguy for setting this cache up and Mimi & Pa for helping to maintain it. This is much too good a cache to just let it be archived. Many thanks to Mimi & Pa for stepping up to repair and maintain this fine cache.

Updated description:

Since . . .

. . . the original cache was lost due to theft and/or tree damage, and because the original reflectors went missing, SpiritGuide has attempted to replace everything. There is a new cache in the general location of the original and new reflectors added. Unfortunately, there may be some confusion due to seeing the older reflectors. Look at the hint if you are unsure which path to take when starting off. You can also try finding the Nocturnal Reflections Lite cache to gain experience before finding this one. There are 3 types of reflectors (small brownish-orange, bright white, and reflective tape) to look for. They are spaced about 1,000+ feet apart. Don't be concerned if you haven't seen a reflector for while during hiking (it's a long hike)… but you should definitely locate one when you come to a fork in the path. Shine your flashlight about eye level along both path directions until you see a reflector to know which way to go.

You'll know when you reach the final location when you find lots of reflector tape on several trees pointing off the path. Go around 30' off the trail to a common geocache hiding location to nab the cache.

Once you've found and logged it, bushwhack about 100' directly west of the cache to exit the woods and onto the street mentioned in the original cache description and follow those directions.

How often . . .

. . . do you go hiking out in the woods afterdark? Not many people would have any reason to go hiking afterdark, that is why I created this cache. It will give you a chance to see some of Missouri's nocturnal animals. You will see dear, spiders, and some other animals.

To hunt this cache you will need to park at N 37 05.67 W 094 30.13. This will make it easy to get back to you car when you are done. From this parking location walk down the Frisco Greenway Trail and enter the woods at the posted coordinates of N 37 06.11 W 094 30.06.

When you get to this location, keep you eyes open for the rare reflective "presents" left by an animal which no one has documented to this date. (Rumor has it that this creature rides a Rocky Mountain Element under the alias of "MTBguy".) If you follow the items left behind by this unusual creature, you may find his hidden cache in the deep, dark, spooky woods. (If you are lucky enough to find it, be sure you cover it back up good so that its hunters are not alerted to its location.)

Once you have found it, continue down the trail in the same direction you were traveling before you found it. When you exit the woods, go left on the road until you reach a stop sign. Turn left again at the stop sign and continue until you reach a T in the road, turn left, then right and you will find yourself back at the location you parked at.

Be sure you take a BRIGHT flashlight with you! (A head mounted light would be best.) This hunt should take you about one hour, so it would be smart to take a back-up flashlight, and do not hunt for this one alone! Print out this page and take it with you!

Have a good time, and don't get lost!

The Mountain Bike Guy from Joplin MO

Note: On a short section of the walking/biking trail, the rail road tracks have not been removed. THESE TRACKS DO NOT GO ANYWHERE, it is part of the Frisco Greenway Trail.

BTW, thanks to Markwell for suggesting the great name!
