On this outing we will meet at the trailhead at 10:00 AM and hike as a group along two trails in Pere Marquette State Park. The approximate length of the hike is 2 miles and will involve climbing some hills. The highest point along the hike will be about 400 feet above the trailhead elevation. We will walk at an easy pace and stop as needed to take in the sights, catch our breath, and snap photographs at some of the scenic locations above the nearby lake and rivers. The event will be over at 11:30.
Prior to the hike come by and grab breakfast in the restaurant at the nearby lodge. We will eat and socialize in the main dining room starting at 8:00 AM.
There are several other hiking trails and a road that winds through the park with several places to park and take in the scenic overlooks.
More information about the trail we will hike can be found on the Great River Road web site.
More information about the park can be found on Illinois' Department of Natural Resources web site.
SLAGA has held hikes in Pere Marquette park previously and, as the image below shows, the park was chosen as the location for the 2006 MOGA competition.
