Haltwhistle War Memorial is a tall monument just off the main road through Haltwhistle.
Carved with a simple intertwined vine design, interspersed with serpents, squirrels, owls and rodents, the memorial is topped with a Celtic style cross.
An inscription carved in the base of the cross reads:
Haltwhistle War Memorial
Remembering the fallen
In proud and grateful memory
of those from this district who
gave their lives in the Great War
1914 – 1918
and in the World War
1939 – 1945
Four plaques flank the right and left sides of the cross depicting the names, by region, of those who fell in the first and second world wars.
