Geocache Description:

The addition to the Fine Pair series of this location has a great deal of significance for Victoria and myself. We have passed these two boxes on a weekly basis over the years in the course of family and work related activities and haven't used either box - so much for sentiment ! and the accursed mobile phone and electronic mail !!  The letter box is of significance as it marks the nearby entrance lodge to the former Glossop Hall the home of the Howard family who inherited the title Duke of Norfolk. The hall on demolition was subsumed into the present Manor Park. Verily, Glossop can proudly claim a link to that royal despot Henry VIII since Katherine Howard his fifth wife parted company with her head over shenanigans with a courtier.   Further info. relating to the local history and selected photos see weblink http://www.glossopheritage.co.uk/howard.htm. To claim the cache you will have to make your way to the letter box and from its royal insignia research the birthday of the monarch's youngest great  - great - grandson .

If his birthday is AB / C / DEFG  then substitute numbers for letters in the final which is at

N 53 26. (A+C) (F+G) (D+F)    W 01 56  (D+G-E) (C+D-G) (DxG)

This is a very busy junction with vehicles and pedestrians and parking is not advised here. Free parking is available on street, nearby, in a quieter location. See below for co-ords.

The A Fine Pair series was originally started by wizardsmum but is now managed by mattd2k If anybody would like to place 'A Fine Pair' of their own please do. I would just ask that you first visit www.afinepair.co.uk to request a number to avoid any duplication mattd2k also keeps a public Bookmark List of this series. Once your cache is published please contact him via geocachingafinepair@gmail.com to have yours added.
