C'est à cet endroit le 27 novembre 1917, lors de la bataille de Cambrai ( du 20 novembre au 5 décembre 1917 ), que le lieutenant H.W Windeler, Grenadier Guards du 4ème bataillon, fut tué par un sniper allemand.
