The Golden Cache with Mary HYde at the helm was on her way home after a visit to the east. A quick stop under the cover of darkness at a tiny cove along the east coast of South Africa to pick up a special parcel. The cargo was a secret, but it was rumoured to be a treasure of immense proportions, destined for the Royal household. The fact that the Royal Navy was escorting The Golden Cache only added oil to the fire. As always, a secret never stay secret for too long. A whisper here and an overheard conversation there and rumours was starting to do the rounds. Not too long and it reached the ears of some intrepid pirates. Before you could say "Jolly Roger", five of the most fearsome, cutthroat pirates decided to band together to claim this once in a lifetime prize.
During a stormy night along the Wild Coast the pirates used their opportunity to attack. The Golden Cache was quickly boarded and the treasure divided between the five of them. Before the Navy realised what had happened, the pirates were fleeing, each in a different direction.
Mary survived with a few cuts and bruises. She was furious and vowed to track the pirates to the ends of the earth to recover the treasure. She made meticulous notes in the ship's logbook of any information that she deemed to be of importance to help in her task.
The Golden Cache was lying at anchor at the listed coordinates on a quiet evening. Mary was going over her notes. Making sure her logic was sound and that the treasure was where she calculated it to be. A quick landing in the morning, and months of hard work will be well rewarded.
Unfortunately this story does not have a happy ending. During the night a freak wave washed the ship onto the rocks and it sank. There was no survivors. The pages of the logbook was scattered into different directions.
It is now up to you to track down all these clues and recreate the logbook, and then using Mary's logic to figure out where the treasure is hidden.
