La proue de cet immense navire est installée depuis 1995 contre la façade d'un immeuble situé entre la rue Vezzani et le passage des Capucins, dans le centre historique.
Amarré place Saint-Louis, devant le lycée hôtelier Anne-Sophie Pic, le bateau aux magistrales dimensions (dix mètres de hauteur sur dix mètres de longueur et de largeur) s'inscrit dans le passé maritime de la ville de Toulon.
C’est en effet une réplique de la proue de la frégate "La Flore", qui était basée à Toulon au xviiie siècle. Emblématique du navire, l'original de la figure de proue (qui figure Neptune, dieu romain de la mer), se trouve au musée national de la marine.
[EN] While walking in the streets of old Toulon, you will stumble upon a gigantic boat sculpture.
The bow of this huge ship was installed in 1995 against the facade of a building situated between Vezzani Street and the passage of the Capucins, in the historic center.
Moored in front of the famous hotel and catering school « Anne-Sophie Pic », the boat with remarkable dimensions (ten meters in height on ten meters in length and of width) is a part of the maritime past of the city.
Indeed, it is a replica of the bow of the frigate named « The Flora », that was based in Toulon in the XVIIIth century. Emblematic of the ship, the original figurehead (who represents Neptune, Roman god of the sea), is located in the Navy National Museum.
