AMÉLIE PATRICK – CANADA150
Every year, Collège Mathieu awards the Prix Alpha to someone in Saskatchewan who has learned or learned again to speak, read, and write in French.
In 2016, the recipient of the Prix Alpha was Amélie Patrick, a resident of Debden. Born in an Anglophone community in Alberta, Amélie tried to learn French when she was young but she did not succeed.
After she moved to Debden in 2012, Amélie got involved in the Conseil culturel fransaskois de Debden. Everything changed for her; as she became a part of the group and with the encouragement and help of its board, she learned her mother tongue once again.
French is now an integral part of Amélie Patrick's life, not only at work but also in her family and her community. To highlight her efforts, Collège Mathieu awarded her the 2016 Prix Alpha.

Chaque année, le Collège Mathieu remet le prix Alpha à une personne qui a appris ou réappris à parler, lire et écrire en Français en Saskatchewan.
En 2016, la récipiendaire du prix Alpha fut Amélie Patrick, résidente de Debden. Née dans une communauté anglophone de l’Alberta, Amélie a tenté jeune d’apprendre le français, sans succès.
Suite à son déménagement à Debden, Amélie s’est impliquée au sein du Conseil culturel fransaskois de Debden en 2012. Tout a changé pour elle, et grâce à cette intégration, l’encouragement et l’aide du CA du comité, elle a réappris sa langue maternelle.
Aujourd’hui, le français fait partie intégrante de la vie d’Amélie Patrick, non seulement à son travail, mais dans sa famille et sa communauté. C’est pour souligner ses efforts que le Collège Mathieu en a fait la lauréate du prix Alpha pour l’édition 2016.
