Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the listed coordinates, but it is within a few kilometres.
My buddy George is at it again! He's invented a new number puzzle game, called Trexagon, that is maths with a twist.

This is the easiest cache in a six-cache puzzle series.

This cache is part of a series that requires you to find mystery caches by first solving five Trexagon puzzles of varying difficulty. Each of the five puzzle solutions contains the coordinates for a cache, and placed in the geochecker for each cache is part of a final "Killer" Trexagon puzzle, whose solution leads to a sixth cache. A blank Trexagon board can be downloaded here. A clue for the sixth cache is placed in the geochecker for this cache.

If you are new to Trexagon, this is a good one to start with.

The rules for Trexagon are simple, and are as follows:

  1. The goal is to fill all triangle cells in the Trexagon board shown below.
  2. Place a digit from 1 to 7 in each triangle so no digit is repeated within a horizontal row or any diagonal in any direction.
  3. The inner shaded triangle does not contain a digit.
  4. Each puzzle has only one solution.
  5. The board contains several zones, that is, triangle groupings marked by heavy borders. Each zone has a desired value and an operator + , − , × , ÷ . The digits in each zone will produce the desired value using the given operator.
  6. When a zone contains just a single triangle, then the identified digit can simply be inserted.

Each row in the Trexagon board is denoted by a letter (A-D) from top to bottom. Each triangle within a row is numbered from left to right starting at 1. So, A1 is the left-most triangle in the top row. Use the values in your solution to calculate the location of the cache according to the formulas below.

S 43 29.STU
E 172 22.XYZ

S = B5 - D2
T = A7 - C3
U = A3 - B6

X = C2 + B1
Y = D3 + A6
Z = B3 + D2
