All That Remains Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

barefootjeff: Sadly this cache has been vandalised, with the container smashed, the logbook taken and some rubbish put in its place. With all the problems this cache has had and GZ becoming increasingly a muggle hot-spot, it's time to retire it. I've cleaned up all that remained so now nothing remains of All That Remains.

Geocache Description:

Experience and explore the Daleys Point Aboriginal site in Bouddi National Park.

I acknowledge the Darkinyung people as the traditional custodians of this land and pay my respects to Elders past and present.

For millennia, Aboriginal people lived along the Daleys Point ridge, nurtured by the land and the sheltered waters of the bay below, but now all that remains are middens and marks left behind in the rock. As you explore this place, let your imagination take you back to those times and lives in our not-so-distant past.

Begin your journey at the Daleys Point Fire Trail off Wards Hill Road. At the Side Track reference point you might like to take a deviation to the right along a path around the top of a gully, with filtered water views, interesting rock formations and impressive red gum, blackbutt and banksia trees. It rejoins the main trail just before the junction with the Fishermans Trail and from there it's only a few hundred metres to the Aboriginal site.

At the listed coordinates is a sign giving an overview of the site which you might find helpful in your quest. From there, visit the four waypoints (features A, B, C and D), choosing which of these options best describes each one:

  • Man = 1
  • Kangaroo = 2
  • Shelter = 3
  • Sting ray = 4
  • Midden and charcoal drawings = 5
  • Whale = 6
  • Sharpening grooves = 7
  • Jellyfish = 8

Two of the features are below the main rock shelf but can be easily reached down a cleft from the "Way Down" reference point.

The cache is located back along the track just outside the official national park boundary at:

S 33° 30.5AB E 151° 21.8CD

The container has room for a geocoin or small TB in addition to the logbook and pencil.
