Hövelsenner Kapelle

Der Ortsteil Hövelsenne entstand im 17. Jahrhundert. Im Jahr 1923 wurde aus Spenden und Eigenleistung die St. Josefs Kirche erbaut. Die Kirche war bis zum Jahr 1974 Ort des Gebets, des Innehaltens und des Zusammenfindens.
Nachdem Hövelsenne von der Erweiterung des Truppenübungsplatzes betroffen war, verloren 135 Familien ihre Heimat und mussten umsiedeln.
Die letzte Messe wurde in der Hövelsenner Kirche 1974 gefeiert. 1985 wurde die Kirche gesprengt. Heute erinnern ein Gedenkstein und ein Schuttberg auf dem Truppenübungsplatz an die Stelle, an welcher die Kirche stand.
Die Möglichkeit nach Hövelsenne zu kommen, um an der alten Stelle zu beten und sich zu erinnern, ist nur mit einer Ausnahmegenehmigung möglich. Aus diesem Grund hat der Förderverein Hövelsenner Kapelle e.V. hier, ca. 1,3km vom Standort der ursprünglichen Kirche entfernt, eine Gedenkkapelle errichtet; einen Ort der Erinnerung und des Gedenkens, der frei für alle jederzeit zugänglich ist.
Der Standort ist mit Bedacht gewählt. Er liegt an derselben Straße, in Sichtweite zu dem alten Standort der St. Josefs Kirche. Es ist der nächstgelegene Ort an der Grenze des Truppenübungsplatzes. Es gibt keinen Ort, welcher die emotionale und sichtbare Nähe annähernd widerspiegelt.
Die Kapelle ist durch Spenden und Eigenleistung vieler fleißiger Helfer entstanden und wurde am 11. Juli 2015 eingeweiht. Das Äußere lehnt sich an der St. Josefs Kirche im Maßstab 1:3 an. Die Ausrichtung der Kapelle ist identisch mit der alten Ausrichtung der Kirche.
In der Kapelle befinden sich die Medaillons der ehemaligen Fenster der Kirche, im Altarraum eine Bodenfliese sowie in der Kerzenecke Steine der alten St. Josefs Kirche. Das Josefs-Bild wurde vom originalen Altarbild abfotografiert und auf Leinwand gezogen. Der Altar und das Mobiliar wurden von Hövelsennern geschreinert.
Neben dem Sinnbild für Hövelsenne, der St. Josefs Kirche, sollen auch die Bewohner und Hofstellen von Hövelsenne nicht in Vergessenheit geraten. Hierzu befindet sich auf dem gepflasterten Weg zur Kapelle für jede Hofstelle ein Erinnerungsstein; darauf der Familienname, der Hofname sowie die Hausnummer der ehemaligen Bewohner.

Chapel of Hövelsenne

The district of Hövelsenne was founded in the 17th century. In 1923, St. Josef's Church was built from donations and personal contributions. Until 1974 the church was a place of prayer, pausing and meeting. After Hövelsenne was affected by the expansion of the military training area, 135 families lost their homes and had to resettle.
The last mass was celebrated in the Hövelsenner church in 1974. In 1985 the church was blown up. Today, a memorial stone and a hill of rubble on the military training area commemorate the place where the church used to stand.
The possibility of coming to Hövelsenne to pray and remember at the old place is only possible with a special permit. For this reason, the Förderverein Hövelsenner Kapelle e.V. has erected a memorial chapel here, approx. 1.3 km from the location of the original church; a place of remembrance and commemoration that is freely accessible to everyone at all times. The location has been chosen carefully. It is located on the same street, within sight of the old location of St. Joseph's Church. It is the closest place at the border of the military training area. There is no place that approximately reflects the emotional and visible closeness.
The chapel was built by donations and personal contribution of many diligent helpers and was inaugurated on 11 July 2015. The exterior is based on St. Joseph's Church on a scale of 1:3. The orientation of the chapel is identical with the old orientation of the church.
In the chapel you can find the medallions of the former windows of the church, in the sanctuary there is a floor tile, and in the candle corner you can see stones of the old St. Joseph's church. The picture of Joseph was photographed from the original altarpiece and drawn on canvas. The altar and the furniture were made by residents of Hövelsenne
In addition to the symbol of Hövelsenne, the Church of St. Joseph, the inhabitants and courtyards of Hövelsenne should not be forgotten. On the path to the chapel there is a memorial stone for each of the farmhouses; on it the family name, the farm name and the house number of the former inhabitants.
