Gävlebocken är Gävles största kändis. Den är gjord av halm på en trästomme, som sedan 1966 sätts upp på Slottstorget i Gävle inför första söndagen i advent varje år. Traditionen upprätthålls av Gävle kommun och Gävle centrumsamverkan (tidigare kallad Södra Kungsgatans Förening och senare Söder Köpmän). Under de flesta år som bocken blivit uppsatt har den olovligen blivit nedbränd. Åren 1966–1970 organiserades bockbygget av Söders Köpmän men efter flera bränder lades projektet ned. Då tog Naturvetenskapliga föreningen på Vasaskolan över initiativet och byggde bockar i olika storlekar i flera år. 1986 återtog Söders Köpmän traditionen varför det under flera år byggdes två bockar, en stor och en liten av Vasaskolan. Gävlebocken finns i Guinness Rekordbok som världens största halmbock (Källa Wikipedia).

The Gävle Goat (Swedish: Gävlebocken) is a traditional Christmas display erected annually at Slottstorget (Castle Square) in central Gävle, Sweden. It is a giant version of a traditional Swedish Yule Goat figure made of straw. It is erected each year at the beginning of Advent by local community groups, and has become famous for being destroyed in arson attacks during December. Despite security measures and the nearby presence of a fire station, the goat has been burned to the ground most years since its first appearance in 1966. As of December 2017, the goat has been damaged 37 times. Since 1986 there have been two Yule Goats built in Gävle: the Gävle Goat by the Southern Merchants and the Yule Goat built by the Natural Science Club of the School of Vasa. p>
In order to log this virtual cache, you should take a self portrait with the Gävle Goat in the background. But since the goat is not always in place, you can also find the information board that is located near the coordinates and take a self portrait with it.
