Nálepkove vodopády Virtual Cache

Ako učiteľ pôsobil v obci Mlynky - Biele Vody. Sympatizoval s Masarykovými ideami a chcel zdokonaliť učebné metódy. 

V lete 1934 bol povolaný do armády, aby si splnil svoju prezenčnú službu ako poddôstojník-ašpirant u pešieho 37. a neskôr 32. pluku v Levoči. Do zálohy bol vyradený v lete 1936 v hodnosti podporučíka pechoty. Neskôr až do mobilizácie 1938 učil v Stupave a od februára 1939 v Nemeckej Porube. V marci 1939 bol odvelený na  front. V júli 1942 prvýkrát naviazal kontakt s partizánmi v Minskej a Poleskej oblasti kde boli Slováci umiestnení. Najprv ich zásoboval liekmi, potravinami, ale aj zbraňami zo skladov Slovenskej armády. Neskôr ich aj začal upozorňovať na rôzne akcie, ktoré sa proti nim chystajú, dodával im správy o pozíciách a presunoch Nemeckej armády.

Medzitým  Nálepku povýšili na kapitána. Viedol protipartizánske akcie, ktoré vždy ohlasoval ako „úspešné“. Vyzeralo to asi takto: Strieľali do vzduchu, hlásili vymyslený počet padlých partizánov, zajatcov vypočul a pustil a potom ohlásil že ich popravil. Prijal krycie meno Repkin, pod ktorým vystupoval  medzi partizánmi. Nakoniec s časťou pluku prebehol k partizánskej skupine, ktorej velil generál Saburov. Dostal možnosť odchodu, aby spolu so svojimi vojakmi odišiel do Moskvy a nastúpil do 1. čs armádneho zboru. Ján Nálepka to odmietol s tým že bude bojovať ako partizán. Generál Saburov vydal rozkaz, aby vznikol 1. česko-slovenský partizánsky oddiel v ZSSR (18. mája 1943). Veliteľom sa stal kpt. Nálepka.

Úlohou oddielu bola záškodnícka činnosť v okolí Jelskej, ale aj agitácia medzi Slovenskou armádou, aby vstúpili do partizánskej skupiny ďalší vojaci.

V júli 1943 sa oddiel vyznamenal pri prepade nemeckej posádky v obci Daniloviči a mestečku David-Gorodoku kde Nemci utrpeli značné straty a škody. Oddiel presunuli do okolia mesta Ovruč, aby podporila útok na Kyjev. (november 1943) Tu Jána Nálepku zasiahla osudová paľba z guľometu – údajne 16 rán.

2. mája 1945 bol kpt. Jánovi Nálepkovi udelený titul Hrdina Sovietskeho zväzu in memoriam. 

Pred vojnou bol členom Agrárnej strany. Po jeho  smrti z neho komunisti vytvorili kult. V ére samostatnej Slovenskej Republiky  Jánovi Nálepkovi boli udelené mnohé ocenenia ako Rád bieleho leva 1. stupňa, dňa 31. augusta 1996 bol in memoriam vyznamenaný Radom Ľudovíta Štúra II. triedy za aktívnu účasť v protifašistickom odboji. 7. 5. 2004 bol povýšený do hodnosti brigádny generál in memoriam prezidentom Rudolfom Schusterom.

Nazvali jeho menom obec Vondrišel, ulice, námestia, v Spišskej Novej Vsi je jeho socha a pamätník.

As a teacher he worked in Mlynky - Biele Vody. He sympathized with Masaryk's ideas and wanted to improve the teaching methods.

In the summer of 1934 he was called to the army to fulfill his attendance service as a non-commissioner-aspirant at the 37th and then 32nd Regiment in Levoča. He was discharged to reserve in the summer of 1936 in the rank of Infantry Lieutenant. Later, until the mobilization of 1938 he taught in Stupava and from February 1939 in the Nemecká Poruba. In March 1939, he was called to the front. In July 1942, for the first time he contacted partisans in the Minsk and Polish regions where the Slovaks were placed. He first supplied them with medicaments, food and weapons from the stores of the Slovak Army. Later, he began to alert them to the various actions that were being prepared aggainst them, he gave them reports on the positions and movements of the German army.
Meantime, Nálepka was promoted to the captain. He led an antipartisan action, which he always called "successful". It looked like this: They shot into the air, reported a fictional number of fallen partisans, and listened to the prisoners, and then announced that he had executed them. He accepted the cover name Repkin, under which he performed among the partisans. Finally, part of the regiment ran into a guerrilla group commanded by General Saburov. He had the opportunity to leave with his soldiers for Moscow and to join the 1st Czechoslovakian Army Corps. Jan Nálepka refused and said that he would fight as a partisan. Therefore, General Saburov issued an order to establish the 1st Czechoslovakian Partisan Division in the USSR (May 18, 1943). The commander became Capt. Nálepka.
The task of the section was the mischievous activities of the Jelíská region, but also the agitation between the Slovak army to join the partisan group.
In July 1943, the division was distinguished for the assault of the German crew in the village of Danilovich and the town of David-Gorodoku where the Germans suffered considerable losses and damage. The section moved to Ovruč surroundings to support the attack on Kiev. (November 1943) Here was Jan Nálepka hit by fateful fire from the machine gun - reportedly 16 wounds.
On May 2, 1945, Jan Nálepkov was awarded by the title Hero of the Soviet Union in memoriam.
Before the war, he was a member of the Agrarian Party. After his death, Communists created a cult. In the era of the independent Slovak Republic, Jan Nálepka was awarded by many awards like the Order of the White Lion 1st Grade, and on 31 August 1996 he was in memoriam awarded by Ľudovít Štúr Order II. Class for active participation in anti-fascist resistance. On May 7, 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in memoriam by president of Slovak Republic, Rudolf Schuster. 

They called it the village of Vondrišel, the streets, the squares, in Spišská Nová Ves stands his statue and the memorial.
