Meet Ficus Aurea
An avaricious plant, that lives in Costa Rica and other tropical countries. It is a very social plant, and can mostly be seen hugging other trees uninvited. The other trees have no choice but to give up nutrients and water to the clingy guest. Eventually, the fig’s clinginess can kill the host — leaving just the hollow fig behind.

Getting to GZ
Once you make your way to the trailhead, search for an opening in the plants and follow the path. Depending on the conditions, the 1-2 min hike can be quite slippery.
There is no designated parking area at the trailhead. If you are traveling with a car, it's probably best left in town.
Claim the find
Take a picture of you or your GPS device at the base of the hollow ficus and post it with your log (it is not required to show your face in the picture).
