Canaletto view for you
In Dresden hat man am rechten Elbufer unterhalb der Augustusbrücke, in der Nähe des heutigen Hotels Bellevue, einen wunderschönen Blick auf die Altstadt mit ihren historischen Gebäuden.
Bereits im Jahr 1748 stellte der Maler Bernardo Bellotto diese Ansicht in einem weltberühmten Gemälde dar. Dieses als Vedute (wirklichkeitsgetreue Darstellung eines Stadtbildes) verfasste Ölgemälde befindet sich heute in der Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister und wird dort unter der Galerienummer 606 geführt.
Im Vordergrund liegt die Elbe, der majestätische Fluss, der von Tschechien kommend bis zur Nordsee führt. Im Bild damals sieht man die Elbschiffe, die am Ufer be- und entladen werden, einen Stapelplatz für Holz und Kaufleute, die mit dem Umschlagen der Waren beschäftigt sind.
Jenseits der Elbe sieht auf dem Gemälde die Bastion Sol der Dresdener Befestigungsanlagen mit dem dahinterliegenden Häuschen des Italienischen Dörfchens, in welchem die Handwerker lebten, die zur Errichtung der Dresdner Hofkirche aus Italien geholt wurden.
Der Turm der Hofkirche war 1748 noch nicht fertiggestellt, so dass Belloto sich von den Bauplänen inspizieren ließ. Rechts hinter der Kirche ist das Dresdener Schloss mit dem Hausmannsturm zusehen. Links neben der Kirche steht das Georgentor mit dem anschließenden Stallhof. Daneben sieht man die im 19. Jahrhundert abgerissenen Brühlschen Herrlichkeiten: das Palais, die Bibliothek und die Gemäldegalerie. Diese Bauwerke werden überthront von der mächtigen Kuppel der Frauenkirche.
Heute findet man am Ufer der Elbe Jogger, Familien mit Kinderwagen, Fahrradfahrer, die den Elbradweg nutzen, junge Leute, die einfach nur am Ufer sitzen. Hinter der Elbe sieht man die prachtvollen, sieht den 90ziger Jahren mühsam und liebevoll restaurieren Gebäude der Dresdener Altstadt.
Hinter dem mächtigen Augustusbrücke befinden sich das Dresdner Schloss, die katholische Hofkirche sowie der Hausmannsturm, welcher bis 1945 mit seinen 100,27 Metern Höhe der höchste Turm Dresdens war. Im Hintergrund sieht man die wunderschön restaurierte Frauenkirche, deren Aufbau am 18. März 1991 durch die sächsische Landessynode beschlossen wurde. Die Gesamtkosten des Wiederaufbaus dieser Kirche beliefen sich auf 180 Millionen Euro, wobei rund 115 Millionen Euro durch Spenden aus aller Welt zusammen kamen. Am 30. Oktober 2005 wurde die Frauenkirche vom sächsischen Landesbischof Jochen Bohl wieder geweiht und damit ihrer künftigen Bestimmung als Gotteshaus übergeben.
[ENG] Nowadays you have in Dresden an amazing view of the old town with its historical buildings on the right bank of the river Elbe below the bridge Augustusbrücke, near the hotel Bellevue. The painter Bernardo Bellotto presented this view in a world-famous painting in 1748. This oil painting which has been depicted as a vedute (realistic depiction of a cityscape) is housed in the Old Masters Gallery. In the foreground of the picture lies the river Elbe, the majestic river which leads from the Czech Republic to the North Sea. In the picture you can see the Elbe ships, which are loaded and unloaded on the bank, a place for the storage of wood and merchants who are engaged in trading goods. Beyond the Elbe, there is the Bastion Sol of the Dresden fortifications with the house of the Italian Village behind it, where the craftsmen lived who were called from Italy to construct parts of the Dresden Court Church. The tower of the Court Church has not been completed in 1748 yet. So Belloto had to inspect the construction plans. Dresden castle with the Hausmannsturm is to the right behind the church. Left of the church you can see the Georgentor that leads to the Court Stables nearby. Along its inner side is a long Tuscan-style arcade with 22 rounded arches. In addition, you can see the splendour of Brühl, buildings that were torn down in the 19th century: the Palais, the Library and the Picture Gallery. These structures are surmounted by the mighty dome of the Frauenkirche – The Church of Our Ladies.
Today you can find joggers, families with their prams, cyclists using the cycle track next to the Elbe or young people just sitting down by the the riverside. Behind the Elbe you can see the magnificent buildings of Dresden’s old town which were lovingly and tediously restored in the 1990s. Behind the mighty Augustusbrücke are the Dresden Castle, the Catholic Court Church and the Hausmannsturm which was the highest tower in Dresden until 1945 with its 100,27 meters of height. In the background you can see the beautifully restored Frauenkirche whose re-construction was decided on 18 March 1991 by the Saxon regional synod. The total cost of rebuilding this church amounted to 180 million Euros, with around 115 million euros that were collected as donations from all over the world. On 30 October 2005, the Frauenkirche was re-ordained by the Saxon regional bishop Jochen Bohl and thus handed over to its future destiny as a places of worship

An dieser Stelle steht nun eine Staffelei, welche einlädt, sich seinen „eigenen“ Canalettonblick zu machen. Diese Staffelei ist Teil eines Kunstprojektes der Volkshochschule Dresden und wurde mit dem "Sächsischen Innovationpreis Weiterbildung " 2008 ausgezeichnet.
