Geocache Description:

History

The posted coordinates will take you to one of the best-loved tourist attractions in Long Beach, the "World's Largest Frying Pan". The original model was a cast iron pan used in the town's Razor Clam Festival in 1941. As part of its initial display at the festival, a woman strapped slabs of bacon to her feet and hopped inside the pan carrying a giant spatula. After the clam celebration, the oversized oddity travelled around the West Coast, but Long Beach had a replica built to forever remember their part in its creation.

Virtual Logging Requirements

To log this Virtual Geocache please upload a photo of yourself and your GPS, or if you prefer, just a photo of your GPS, with your "found it" log, taken at the posted coordinates with the frying pan in the background. If your camera is also your GPS, use some other object, car keys, wallet... The important thing is that the picture demonstrates you're a cacher logging a virtual cache, not a tourist.

To maintain the integrity of this Virtual Cache, any find logs posted without the required photo will be deleted. Do not email a photo to me or send it via the geocaching messenger board. You must upload the photo on the virtual cache page with your log, otherwise your log will be deleted. Thank you.

After posing with the frying pan, be sure to check out the World's Largest Razor Clam a few feet away, which will spit water out its top on the hour, or on demand for twenty-five cents.

This Virtual Cache is part of a limited release of Virtuals created between August 24, 2017 and August 24, 2018. Only 4,000 cache owners were given the opportunity to hide a Virtual Cache. Learn more about Virtual Rewards on the Geocaching Blog.
