Geocache Description:

A cache series highlighting the public art of Tacoma.

Linking Tacoma to the Thea Foss Waterway and the Museum of Glass, the Chihuly Bridge of Glass is a city landmark and favorite destination of both locals and tourists. This 500-foot pedestrian walkway, which opened in 2002, has three distinct areas of public art accessible 24 hours a day. This virtual cache will bring you on a tour of these three areas.

Start crossing the bridge near the Washington History Museum and the Union Station. First you will encounter the Seaform Pavilion, a clear glass ceiling containing over 2000 pieces of brightly colored forms inspired by marine life. Next, as you continue walking, you will observe the Crystal Towers, a pair of sculptures seemingly made of giant translucent ice-blue rock candy. Finally you will arrive at the Venetian Wall, an illuminated panel holding over 100 different Art Deco style pieces.

To log this cache, choose your favorite piece from any of the three areas described above. Because it may be so hard for you to choose, we have given this a difficulty rating of 5. Take a picture of yourself or your caching team with your favorite glass piece and post it with your log. Failure to follow these instructions will result in your log being deleted. Do not message pictures to us.

The Bridge of Glass cache is a field puzzle that you can also find while you're here.

This Virtual Cache is part of a limited release of Virtuals created between August 24, 2017 and August 24, 2018. Only 4,000 cache owners were given the opportunity to hide a Virtual Cache. Learn more about Virtual Rewards on the Geocaching Blog.
