I know many of you will be recovering from 'the night before' at the Yorkshire 2018 Xmas Fayre, so this is a perfect opportunity to get some fresh air and see one of the areas iconic architectural building, The Piece Hall.
The Piece Hall is a Grade 1 listed building in the town centre of Halifax. It was opened on 1 January 1779 as a cloth hall for handloom weavers to sell the woollen cloth pieces they produced. With 315 separate rooms set around a central open courtyard, it is an impressive social space.
After 3 years of restoration work and £19 million, the Piece Hall had a grand reopening, appropriately, on 1 August 2017, Yorkshire Day.
On the exterior of the Piece Hall close to the West Gate are a pair of handprints, there are a number of folklore tales surrounding these prints - one states the handprints are cursed, as over the years attempts to eradicate them have failed.
💜We'll be somewhere in the middle, look for the Purple! 💜
